It’s safe to say that we’re most definitely in the middle of what is no doubt the busiest time of the year. So busy, we often forget to stop and indulge in the TLC we deserve when rushing through our week. In fact, the closest I’ve come to having a facial of late is slapping on a face mask in the evening, and calling it a day.If I’m lucky and have time, I may even apply a serum and an overnight eye cream. As such, when given the opportunity to make the most of a 90-minute facial at QT Sydney’s luxurious SpaQ, I immediately cleared my schedule and took off to Sydney's CBD.I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment—because as I mentioned, time is something we all need a little more of—and was disappointed to learn that I did not leave myself enough time to make the most of SpaQ’s Hammam-inspired steam and ice rooms. So, be sure to arrive at least 45 minutes before your booking at SpaQ if you’re eager to make the most of all that is on offer. After changing into a bathrobe and slippers, I was led into one of the six treatment rooms on the hotel’s mezzanine level, where a lovely beautician—who had an incredibly calming voice—talked me through the vitamin C facial I would be getting. Once I was aware of each of the steps she was going to take in order to transform my dull complexion into a glowing one, it was time to lie down.
Relaxing music filled the room and the beautician began by wrapping my feet in a warm, wet towel. While I hadn’t expected that step to form part of the package I had been prescribed, it was exactly what I needed after a long day on my feet. Next up was a massage with precious Jade gemstones, which was inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, gua sha.
If I’m being completely honest, the whole experience was so relaxing that I drifted in and out of a light sleep over the course of the 90-minute experience. During that time, a 25 per cent vitamin C concentrate, boasting triple-action antioxidant ingredients, was massaged into my skin, and went to work neutralising the effects of free-radicals, preventing photo-ageing and stimulating collagen synthesis.
At the conclusion of the facial, I felt (and looked) as though I had actually been looking after my skin these past few months. Bright and hydrated, my complexion was luminous and revitalised, and I was ready to start putting skincare first again. In summary, a visit to Sydney’s SpaQ is a must.
Good for: the vitamin c facial I had at SpaQ is good to unproblematic skin that needs rejuvenation.
Where to get it: SpaQ at QT Sydney.
